Workshop: What lies beneath? Soil Exploration

Wednesday 17 JulyFind out what lies beneath your feet. In this workshop, we will look at some properties of soil in our parks to better understand how simple characteristics can determine the plants we see on the surface. We will consider how the land supports the environment through food production, carbon storage, and ecosystems. We will do this by taking samples of soil from around the park and analysisng what we can see and what we can find out from this.
This will be a practical workshop led with guidance from The Parks Trust's Environmental Sustainability Manager.
Elfield Nature Park is a closed site that has uneven ground, steps and steep slopes. This session will involve some walking around the site and sitting on log stumps.
