About Poplar Plantation

This scenic area of parkland is great for a short stroll amongst the trees, or you can incorporate it into a longer walking, running or cycling route through Willen Lake or Ouzel Valley Park. The area is well signposted so you can continue to explore Milton Keynes' vast green spaces easily. It is also a great location for dog walking.

We recommend visiting in autumn to enjoy the carpet of leaves that cover the ground towards the end of the year. Please take care and avoid this area in high winds as branches can fall off onto the ground below.

Facilities

There is a dedicated car park off Woodall Close in Middleton. Nearest postcode: MK10 9JZ. You can walk from here into the Plantation.

The closest public toilets and refreshments are at Willen Lake South.

Accessibility

Good if accessed from the car park; the leisure routes are hard surfaces.

Ouzel Valley Park
The Ouzel Valley Park meanders from Caldecotte Lake in the south to Willen Lake in the north. The park has a spacious, open atmosphere with long views. Much of the land is farmed by The Parks Trust rearing our own cattle and sheep, between the livestock you can still see the remnants of an old field system with the ridge and furrow still visible. Incorporating the historic villages of Woolstone and Woughton, the park is bordered on its western side by the Grand Union Canal.
