Windrush Generation Commemoration

Milton Keynes Rose

Friday 21 June (other dates available)

This event is in the past. This page is for information purposes only.

Celebrating one of the newer pillars at the Milton Keynes Rose, this evening commemoration marks the considerable contribution of the generation of people from the Caribbean who came to the UK and worked hard to build strong communities. The pillar marks the date in 1948, the 22 June that the HMT Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in London and it is testament to the dedication, knowledge and contribution this generation brought to the New Town of Milton Keynes with such pioneers like the first Matron at Milton Keynes Hospital from the Windrush generation.
Everyone is welcome to this free service and celebration of this remarkable group of people. Organised by the Friends of the Caribbean the evening will have speeches, readings and music.
