The Parks Trust has received a Milton Keynes Education Award!
We are thrilled to announce that we won the Environmental and Sustainability Award at Friday night's Milton Keynes Education Awards ceremony.
The award is credit to our Outdoor Learning team, who engaged almost 20,000 MK residents in environmental education last year, of which 13,400 were primary and secondary students from 72 schools across the city. The team provide more than 30 different curriculum-linked sessions for local schools, primarily held in local parks, and covering topics such as Environmental Heroes, Life of Plants, Wild Wellbeing, and River Explorers.
Additional projects involve local children too, such as the recent initiative to create Middleton Wood Meadow. This project was made possible thanks to the commitment of Parks Trust volunteers, Community Trees MK, and more than 800 local school children, who together planted 2,480 trees! It not only provided hands-on environmental experience but also instilled a lasting sense of achievement and connection to the local natural environment.
