Saturday 17 AugustJoin us for a fun and educational afternoon filled with activities to learn about Romans on Saturday 17th August from 12pm – 4pm, at the Bancroft Roman Villa in North Loughton Valley Park, what3words///blissful.bonfires.tube.
Discover the traditional Roman way of life by meeting a real-life Roman woman and a Roman soldier, to see if you have what it takes to join the Roman Army!
Travel back in time to learn about the history about the Roman site by taking a guided tour around the Roman Villa remains, or speak with Bucks Geology Group, who are part of the Geo-Conservation UK network and knowledgeable in rocks, fossils and landscapes of Buckinghamshire.
Take part in themed crafts and activities and have a go at building your own fort and knocking it down with our hand built Roman Catapult and discover about mosaics.
Do not miss the chance to join the pottery acrylic painting workshops, for just £1 per person! Each session will be 1 hour long and due to limited spaces, we invite you to book your space in advance.
Timed activities on the Day
- Time Tutors: meet a Roman soldier and Roman woman, presentations every 30 minutes.
- Social Pottery acrylic painting 1 hour sessions (£1 per person): 12:30 - 13:30 & 14:30 - 15:30. Click here to book a pottery session.
- Guided tour of the Roman Villa remains: 12:45, 14:00 and 15:00.

Parking: Please park in the Bancroft car park located on Constantine Way, or there will be extra parking on the day here: what3words /// steamed.voted.trophy.
Facilities: Toilets and refreshments will be available on site, including delicious pizza.
Please note, some ground may be uneven and the majority of the site is on grass. The event is designed for all ages. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
