Plants & Trees
Learn about plant structures, life cycles and identification and incorporating art with plants
In the Plants (KS1&2) resource that we have provided below, there are several engaging activities, with the aim for students to:
- Understand basic plant structure
- Identify the differences between a flowering plant and a tree
- Observe the lifecycle of a plant
- Explore water movement in plants
- Find ways to use plants in art
We have also included a tree identification guide for students to learn more about the trees that we have in Milton Keynes and help them identify the differences. Trees are plants too, so they’re just as important to learn about! During autumn season, take advantage of the falling leaves and get students to participate in our amazing autumn leaf challenge.
In the holidays, students can befriend a tree as homework! It will help them learn the behaviour of a tree and what wildlife uses it. Another option is to give them a guide to make a terrarium and see the plant cycle in action.
Documents are suitable for all Primary ages with adaptations listed where necessary.
Did you know? We offer a "Life of Plants" session for Milton Keynes Primary Schools in our parks! Click here to find out more and to book.
