What's On this Summer
This Summer, we have put together a fantastic programme of enjoyable outdoor activities for local families, including many events that will be provided free of charge. So, what’s in store?
Howe Park Wood Open Mornings
Howe Park Wood Open Mornings run 25th July to 31st August, 9.30-12.30 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with a different theme each week to explore Water, Flowers and Pollinators, Trees, Minibeasts, Wildlife, and Birds. In the tranquil oasis of a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Open Mornings offer free access to experts and artefacts in the Education Centre, nature-themed challenges, and self-guided trails. Some our sessions also offer bookable activities like Nature Crafts and Bug Hunting for a small fee.
Big Park Hangout
Our brand-free new event, Big Park Hangout, will be packed with outdoor activities and entertainment at Campbell Park on 12th August, 12-5pm! Dedicated towards 11-17 years olds living and studying across the city, teenagers will have the chance to discover and experience what Milton Keynes can offer them, from arts, culture and sports facilities to health, wellbeing, and safety services.
Parkland Play Week
To celebrate National Play Day, we have dedicated an entire week to Parkland Play, featuring free fun, games, sports, and art activities located in a different park each day from 12-3pm. These parks are:
- Ashland Lakes (Monday 31st July)
- Waterhall Park (Tuesday 1st August)
- Whitehouse Park (Wednesday 2nd August)
- Oakgrove (Thursday 3rd August)
- Millfield, Stony Stratford (Friday 4th August)
Discover Nature Days
Discover Nature Days (10am-3pm) at Howe Park Wood are action-packed days that are a great chance for children to meet like-minded new friends, featuring a variety of activities such as foraging, hunting mini-beasts, creating mini-habitats and bird identification for just £22.50 per child.
- Discover Nature Day for 11-13 year olds (Monday 24th July)
- Discover Nature Day for 13-15 year olds (Monday 7th August)
Roman Day
Step back in time for Roman Day at North Loughton Valley Park on Sunday 27th August, 11am-2pm. The whole family is invited to join us at Bancroft Roman Villa to learn more about the history, Roman life and customs. Families will also have the chance to make their very own mosaic whilst being at the most extensive excavation site of Roman settlements in the city.

Do you love your parks? You can help make a difference and keep them clean in our upcoming Community Litter Picks at 10am:
