Light Pyramid (The Beacon) by Liliane Lijn (2012)

Commissioned in 2012 as part of the Campbell Park Art Plan to replace the original basket beacon, which was situated on the belvedere but hit by lightning in 2002 and as a result had to be removed. The Light Pyramid was first lit for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on 4th June 2012 and is still lit to commemorate special local and national events. Made of steel and painted white the Light Pyramid overlooks great views of North East Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire.

Liliane Lijn is a sculptor born in New York, they studied archaeology and art history in Paros and at the start of the 1960s began experimenting with movement and light in their work.  Liliane has shows and had works commissioned globally and has a second piece in Milton Keynes, Circle of Light which had been exhibited in the shopping centre.

Light Pyramid can be found at the top of the Beacon in the centre of Campbell Park. What3words ///spell.confetti.routine
