Get back onto the water with Watersports at Willen Lake
We are thrilled to announce our new watersports season for 2022 will be starting from the 1st of April!
Over the cold winter months, we have been working hard to create a jammed packed program of activities that we are excited to share with you. We will be offering a variety of watersports activities, courses and clubs suitable for children aged eight plus all the way up to adults. As we are based in the heart of Milton Keynes, our lake is easy to access from both the M1 and the home counties region. So, if you have an interest in watersports or fancy trying something new, then please take a look at what we have in store for this season.
Our sheltered areas of the scenic lake are a great place to experience kayaking or paddleboarding, whether you are a complete novice or an experienced pro there is something for you. The 90-minute Discover Sessions we offer, are designed for those who are new to the sport, who want to try it for the first time and for those want to hone their skills a little further. Our Adult Paddleboarding Club and the Paddle Start Award are created for those who are more experienced and want to regularly get out onto the water or complete qualifications.
We are also home to the dedicated Wakeboarding Centre that comes with a 750-metre cable-tow course and a variety of challenging jumps. We have a team of experienced instructors that will be happy to give you some coaching and teach you the ways of wakeboarding! If you have never been wakeboarding before then we strongly recommend that you try out our Discover Wakeboarding or Kneeboarding sessions to help build your skills and confidence.
Our lake is also a great place to practice if you own a paddleboard, sit-on-top kayak, canoe or windsurfing board. From April, you’ll have the opportunity to launch your own craft onto the lake from £15 per craft per day. Plus, new for 2022, we have just introduced a new season launch pass, which offers unlimited launches throughout the season. Again, we recommend for both the day and season pass to book online in advance.
If you do not have any of your own equipment but still want to get out onto the lake, then head over to our new Watersports Centre where you can hire equipment. Take your pick from the fun-themed fleet of pedalos, paddleboards, canoes and kayaks. Our equipment hire is available 11am to 5pm on weekends, Bank Holidays and throughout the school holidays. Please note that our equipment cannot be booked in advance and opening times may vary depending on weather conditions.
