Nordic Walking
What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic Walking is a specific pole walking technique that harnesses the power of the upper body to turn walking into a workout! Originally developed by Cross Country skiers as a summer training routine, Nordic Walking offers fun, effective, sociable fitness for all ages. Physical benefits include:
- Tones the upper and lower body at the same time
- Reduces the pressure on knees and joints
- Great for the heart and lungs
- Ideal for neck, shoulder and back problems
As part of the MK Health Walks programme, there are two weekly Nordic Walking Groups. These volunteer led walks are normally about an hour long and are free to attend.
MK Nordic Strollers - Meet on a Thursday at 10:00 at various park locations
Nordic Striders - Meet on a Saturday at 11:00 at various park locations
Walkers will need to have completed a basic introduction to Nordic Walking, wear sensible clothing and footwear, and follow the directions of the walk leaders at all times. If you'd like to start your Nordic walking journey then get in touch with MK Nordic Walking.
Nordic Walking Instructor Emma, along with her team of professionally trained, first aid qualified and insured walk leaders promise to give you a very warm welcome.
