Community Volunteering Task - Himalayan Balsam Removal

Lodge Lake

Saturday 08 June (other dates available)

If you're interested in doing some community volunteering, we have the task perfect for you - removing Himalayan Balsam from an area near Lodge Lake on Saturday 8th June at 10am. Please note, this event has changed location.

This plant may look pretty, but it's causing problems because it grows really fast and crowds out our native plants. Each plant can produce a lot of seeds that spread easily. We need to pull these plants out by hand to control them.

This volunteer task is quite physical because we'll be pulling out a lot of plants, so it's important that you're able to do this kind of work. It's not suitable for kids under 14, and if you're under 18, you need to come with an adult. Wear long sleeves and trousers to protect yourself. Gloves can be provided but you are also welcome to bring your own. Sturdy footwear (boots/wellies) is required.

The event is free, and it's a great way to help take care of Milton Keynes parks. You don't need to sign up in advance, just come along on the day.
