If you’re looking to learn a new skill, or brush off your identification keys, this beginner’s course for butterfly and wildflower ID is perfect! Join our team for an early summer evening walk through Stonepit Field in Great Linford on Saturday 28th May.
This site is one of Milton Keynes' hotspots for wildflowers and pollinator species and is carefully managed by our biodiversity team to encourage species richness. You will learn about some of the common, and not-so-common, British butterflies, how to identify them and what they are feeding on at this park. You will also gain an insight into how we are monitoring butterfly populations across the city, and why this site is one of our most productive.
On this walk we will be wandering into the meadow and stonepit which can be tricky underfoot, and often bending down to look at wildflower specimens. Please bear this in mind and wear suitable footwear for this session.
Meet at the Stonepit car park on Wolverton Road, opposite Oakridge Park.
