Schools out for summer and there are six whole weeks to fill with activities for the kids! Are you wondering how you’re going to entertain the family across the school holidays? Visit Willen Lake this summer to banish the boredom and enjoy some quality family time together in the great outdoors. We have plenty of activities for a range of ages, on the water, off the water and in the air!

  1. Treetop Extreme

Climb, swing and jump through the air on our high ropes course. With three levels to choose from there’s something for everyone. Can you climb to the top of the climbing wall, swing from the Tarzan swing or are you brave enough to jump and free fall from our 13-metre-high platform? Treetop Extreme is great for older children and teenagers.

  1. Discover sessions

Our Discover Sessions are the perfect introduction to watersports. If you always fancied trying sailing or stand-up paddle boarding but lacked the confidence to do so, our expert coaches who lead these sessions will help you gain the basic techniques you need to succeed. This is a great activity to try together as prices start from £25. 

  1. Splash ‘n’ Play

When the sun is shining come and cool down in one of the UK’s largest outdoor splash parks. With over 60 interactive features Splash ‘n’ Play is perfect for children aged 0-13years and even has a dedicated toddler section. At £3 per session, this is a great afternoon activity. 

  1. Seaside in the City

Join us as we transform Willen Lake into the seaside for the day. We’ll have a giant sandpit, plus lots of free activities for you to have a go at including Archery, Kneeboarding, Dragon boat rides and a trail around the lake. Don’t forget to come dressed as your favourite underwater character too! This event is free and will be taking place on Wed 16 August between 9am and 3pm.

  1. Wakeboarding

Great for adventurous older kids who love watersports. Our Wakeboarding Centre is the perfect place for both beginners and experienced riders. We have regular Discover sessions to help you get into the sport, daily pay-and-play sessions to practice your skills, as well as membership options which offer savings to repeat riders.

  1. Boat hire

What’s better than a lazy afternoon spent exploring the lake by water? At Willen Lake we have a variety of boats that your family can hire. Take out a double kayak, turbo paddlers or our flamingo shaped pedalos and cruise around the lake.

  1. Playground

Get out into the great outdoors by visiting Willen Lake’s free outdoor playpark. We have new wooden climbing structures and springers, plus six slides and six swings, a dedicated toddler area and more challenging equipment in the main area for older kids, there’s plenty of fun to be had and mum and dad can get a coffee from the café opposite – perfect! 

  1. Aqua Parcs

The latest must-have water park experience located at Willen Lake. The colossal course is over 120 metres long, featuring over 30 obstacles, with slides, challenges and bouncing balls, all on water.

  1. Picnic in the park

Find a shady spot under a tree next to the lake throw down a blanket and have a picnic. We also have plenty of picnic benches on the greens next to the lake and our onsite cafes serve delicious ice cream, so why not pop by?

  1. Go karts

Go for a spin around the lake in a go kart, Lakeside Cycle Hire have Quad-cycles, four-seater go karts, so the entire family can join in or solo carts which are perfect for children. Find them on the events lawn or the Kick Off Sports Astroturf Pitches.
