MK Community Boat ‘Electra’ is coming to the Grand Union Canal this summer
A new way to see the parks along the canal is coming this summer. Take a trip along the Grand Union Canal on the new MK community trip boat Electra. Brought to Milton Keynes by BMK Waterway Trust the new boat will be housed at The Parks Trust owned Campbell Wharf Marina and will be taking residents of Milton Keynes for trips up and down the canal throughout the year. Electra is a Community Boat because it is run entirely by volunteers, and it is open to everyone.
The MK community boat Electra can take up to 12 guests per trip and is a fully-electric, 54-foot narrowboat. It has disabled access, with a lift and a toilet that take an average size wheelchairs. Electra will operate out of the Campbell Wharf development and offer cruises on the Grand Union Canal north towards Cosgrove, taking in parks such as Great Linford Manor Park and south towards Waterhall Park and Fenny Stratford. The community boat will offer public cruises, private charters, seasonal specials and ‘park & parish cruises’ for local communities. We are proud to support this project and we look forward to visiting some of our best loved places which are beside the canal for special events later this year.
Booking opens online from Monday 21st June 2021 for cruises starting on Wednesday 21st July 2021. Most Public Cruises will have adult, concession, child or family ticket prices.
Charter Cruises can also be booked online from 21st June, this is where you hire the entire boat and crew just for you and your group. Great for private parties or special birthdays!
The team behind Electra are also looking for new volunteers to join Cabin and Shore Crew teams. If you are interested in joining this special volunteer team, see community boat volunteer for information or contact the team.
